Re: [opensuse-factory] Mandriva vs. openSUSE
Great job! This ROSA desktop looks superb, really. Please, could you also add Tumbleweed to the repos to compile for? Hi, I already have the spec-files adjusted so that they can build on OBS. As soon as I have finished with them, I will place them in KDE:Extra. It would be better to have them compiling on OBS, so that they are using the correct libraries coming with the openSUSE distro. This way they will be available for 11.3, 11.4 and Factory. Also for KR46, KR47 and KDF. Why not just ask for the packages you need/want to be included in tumbleweed in the first place? That's what it is there for. greg k-h -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
Well, maybe because I always thought that Tumbleweed contained updated versions of yet-existing packages, not new ones. Anyway, this really only happened to me once, with TuxPaint program, which is on Education repository. , which is not compiled for Tumbleweed. I don't know if, in such a case, the correct way to act is either to ask Education maintainers to include Tumbleweed, or else to ask Tumbleweed maintainers to include TuxPaint. Anyway, I don't want to hijack this thread with Tumbleweed policies related stuff :-). I keep my petition to the above mentioned repository to include it as an option. After all, it's just5 a matter of ticking one more item in the configuration panel... Kind regards, Eduard Huguet 2011/9/2 Greg KH <gregkh@suse.de>:

Hi, I wanted to let everybody know that I have just submitted 6 packages to the KDE:Extra repository and have also enabled KDE:Extra to build for tumbleweed. I assume that Tumbleweed does not have all the packages from KDE:Extra, therefore building KDE:Extra for Tumbleweed would be logical. The packages are : kde4-ROSA-icontheme (The icon theme used in Mandriva 2011) kde4-desktoptheme-ROSA (the KDE desktoptheme) kde4-style-iaora (The KDE4 widget and window style) plasmoid-ROSA-launcher (the application launcher, also called SimpleWindows) plasmoid-ROSA-panel (the Rocketbar panel used instead of the standard KDE panel). plasmoid-ROSA-stackfolder (The stackfolder plasmoid as used in the Rocketbar panel) It might take some time to build and to get published. I wanted to keep as close as possible to the original Mandriva packages. Therefore I didn't split out the panel package. However you can easily use the plasmoids in there seperately. Rocketbar is not required for those to run. I noticed the error when I installed the new package myself this morning. A fix for SimpleWelcome is already building :-) Regards Raymond -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Well there are also some other glitches. The Launcher will show up underneath open windows instead of above. If I replace the ROSA launcher with Lancelot on the Rocketbar, then it causes a plasma-crash on startup. That's just splitting hairs. Mandriva and Rosa have the same Russian owner after Mandriva was bought by him last year. The source code was developed by ROSAlabs for the benefit of Mandriva. However we have to take into account that this source code was not downloadable from a website, but that we took the Mandriva packages and just build them for openSUSE. That is also the main reason why I put them in KDE:Extra and not to make them part of our KDE distribution. It could easily be that certains bugs are showing with openSUSE only as that Mandriva will have different patches for the standard KDE packages than that we have.
