[opensuse-factory] paving the road for Leap 42.2
Hi, As some have already noticed, we have an openSUSE:Leap:42.2 project in OBS which deserves some explanation. There's not much to see there yet though. I've just finished to bootstrap ring 0 (Boostrap), 1 (X) and 2 (Desktops). My next goal is to prepare openQA to get working tests again. Starting with a green openQA is always easier than having everything broken. So assuming 42.1 passed openQA just fine the copy that is called 42.2 should be comparatively easy to get to a testable state again. After that I'll set up staging projects and start integrating the maintenance updates from 42.1. From there on we should be ready to integrate the SLE12SP2 sources once they are available in OBS. Meanwhile also some work has been going on with the translations. https://l10n.opensuse.org/ was updated to Weblate 2.5 which includes features requested by various openSUSE translators. Weblate works best when it can work with git directly. So the translation files that were so far hosted on svn.opensuse.org need to be moved to git repos. That work usually requires some programming and packaging skills to clean up and improve the tools and packages involved. Help is appreciated there. I've opened a set up tasks in redmine to keep track of the progress: https://progress.opensuse.org/issues/11334 Feel free to jump in where you see fit. cu Ludwig -- (o_ Ludwig Nussel //\ V_/_ http://www.suse.com/ SUSE Linux GmbH, GF: Felix Imendörffer, Jane Smithard, Graham Norton, HRB 21284 (AG Nürnberg) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Thank you for the update, Will we have similar steps/schedules for Ports ? I am specifically interested by PowerPC :) -- Michel Normand -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

The schedule for the Ports is up to the Ports maintainers. For PowerPC you may want to talk to Dinar Valeev. cu Ludwig -- (o_ Ludwig Nussel //\ V_/_ http://www.suse.com/ SUSE Linux GmbH, GF: Felix Imendörffer, Jane Smithard, Graham Norton, HRB 21284 (AG Nürnberg) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Dinar, now that you triggered the Leap 42.2:Ports (1) what is the best way to track the changes ? I started to work on ebtables and identified code changes (2) Do you want one openSUSE bug for each package to be mirrored to SLES 12 ? I am not sure I am able to create myself a bug for SLES. Hi, I am currently playing with rebuilding openSUSE:Leap:42.2:Rings:0-Bootstrap on armv7l [1] It seems almost ok, except I would like to send maintenance update for libunwind to fix building (boo#976955). When is the proper time to do that? Great! libunwind is a bit special as it comes from SLE. So the bug report is the correct way to get the fix into SLE from where we can take it again. I guess for the ARMv7 port you will have to touch a lot more packages soon so my suggestion would be to collect them in your project first and point the bug report there. In case SLE decides not to take the fixes in time we can still put a copy in Leap. cu Ludwig -- (o_ Ludwig Nussel //\ V_/_ http://www.suse.com/ SUSE Linux GmbH, GF: Felix Imendörffer, Jane Smithard, Graham Norton, HRB 21284 (AG Nürnberg) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

I've failed to find how to fill the bug against SLE. Is https://bugzilla.suse.com the correct place?

In my experience you have to be explicitly granted access to this product in bugzilla. I do not know whether paying customers automatically get it, or only selected partners.
Is https://bugzilla.suse.com the correct place?
Yes, but see above.

It's a bug in Leap and as such should be filed against it. The SLE maintainers will be assigned then (sooner or later :) Greetings, Stephan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
