[opensuse-factory] openSUSE Leap 42.2 Alpha2 released

Hi, tl;dr 42.2 Alpha2 is on the mirrors, get it from http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/42.2/iso/ Since Alpha1 lots of components from SLE 12SP2 could be integrated, among them an updated YaST, a full GNOME 3.20 update, samba 4.4, systemd 228, glibc 2.22. Mesa 11.2, cmake 3.5 etc. KDE wasn't updated yet so testing Alpha2 probably makes more sense on GNOME right now. Bugzilla is awaiting your reports¹. Some of those updates like cmake and glibc cause other packages to fail building. So the amount of broken packages in 42.2 has increased quite a bit, according to the dashboard² we have 181 unresolvable or failed packages right now. Help to analyze and fix the issues is appreciated there. The next Alpha is schedule for July 20th, so please submit³ your fixes and package updates no later than July 15th. Have fun and cu at the conference! Hello, Thanks for sharing the good news :) One question, in the doc you shared via googledocs, I saw two different color styles e.g. yes = red color yes = green color what's the difference between these two ? On Wed, Jun 22, 2016 at 05:42:44PM +0200, Marita Werner wrote:

openSUSE Leap 42.2 - Alpha 2 has just been released in time for the openSUSE Conf!
I wanted to try, using zypper dup, from 13.1. repomd.xmls are missing: repositories/KDE3:/KDE3 opensuse-guide.org repositories/mozilla packman Worse, I tried to remove KDE4 with zypper, after s/42.1/42.2/ in /etc/zypp/repos.d/*, because I forgot to remove them before the edits. The result was zypper wanted to remove 38 KDE4 packages, and install 159 KDE5 packages, exactly what I don't want. So, I reverted the edits, removed the KDE4 packages, unreverted the edits, tried again, in spite of all the missing repos, using up. That listed 196 updates to not install, including Mesa*, (probably) all perl packages, samba*, xf86*, xorg-x11-server, so I aborted and tried dup: 1025 to upgrade, 114 to downgrade, 152 new, 1 to reinstall, 29 to remove, 77 to change vendor, 2 to change arch, increasing space consumed by 227MiB, and downgrading mc from 4.8.17 (from repositories/basesystem) to 4.8.15. As I had forgotten about lock kernel-de*, the result was 0 installed kernels, since kernel-default is inexplicably unable to be installed on the same installation as kernel-desktop. I did notice before trying to reboot, so installed kernel-default. 42.2alpha with 4.4.11 does boot, but now it's off to bed.... -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." In spite of that. I still see the following message when I click on "development version" on this page: https://software.opensuse.org/developer?locale=en "There is no openSUSE release in testing phase at the moment. If you want to use bleeding edge software, please use openSUSE Tumbleweed." -- Graham Davis, Bracknell, Berks. openSUSE 13.2 (64-bit); KDE 4.14.9; AMD Phenom II X2 550 Processor; Kernel: 3.16.7; Video: nVidia GeForce 210 (Driver: nVidia); Sound: ATI SBx00 Azalia (Intel HDA) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

No joy with attempting install from this: http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/42.2/iso/openSUSE-Leap-42.2-D... Gets as far as selecting desktop (KDE) and then get this message: Internal error Details: undefined method 'mktmpdir' for Dir:Class Caller: /usr/share/YaST2/lib/users/dialogs/inst_user_first.rb:410:in 'block in importable_users' I always use a separate partition for /tmp and set up special attributes to make it accessible to all sessions. Performed media check on DVD and it verified OK. I've been using Ext4 for / but will next give the default setting a go and skip allocation of separate /tmp.
