[opensuse-factory] current tumbleweed problems
- Any update needs a "while true ; do killall pango-querymodules-64 ; sleep 1 ; done" running in parallel, as pango-querymodules-64 always hangs forever for some futex. This is needed continuously when updating as it is called from mkinitrd, and mkinitrd seems to be called from all kinds of packages. Especially udev updates seem to call it a lot. - pulseaudio seems dead now. Simply no sound output. Direct alsa output works. If I strace the pulseaudio daemon it seems to transfer data and the volume/mute seems to be up too in a mixer. But I don't hear anything. Mainly a problem with youtube et.al. as flash seems to use pulse unconditionally now. -Andi -- ak@linux.intel.com -- Speaking for myself only. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Odd, it all works here for me. What does: zypper update -t package show? thanks, greg k-h -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Hmm ok. I'll see if I can find out what the pulseaudio problem is. The update problem only happens during the updates of course. I saw it on two different systems. Both updates were relatively large.
What does: zypper update -t package show?

Something is keeping a bunch of these updates from happening, you shouldn't have this many things pending, but failing to install. What other repos do you have enabled? Try getting rid of some of the openSUSE branding packages (like gdm's) with 'zypper rm' which should install the "upstream" branding instead, which will let the other parts update (you want those typelib and gtk3 and glib2 packages to update, as well as the gstreamer ones.) This is all due to the problem that obs doesn't let me increment the build number "manually" to get larger than the number in other repos. Try that and let me know. thanks, greg k-h -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Currently those. I usually disable packman* and games for update. The pango hang was also on another system which only had the standard repos enabled. 1 | Tumbleweed | Tumbleweed | Yes | Yes 2 | games | Games (openSUSE_12.3) | Yes | No 3 | google-chrome | google-chrome | Yes | Yes 4 | openSUSE Current OSS | openSUSE Current OSS | Yes | Yes 5 | openSUSE Current non-OSS | openSUSE Current non-OSS | Yes | Yes 6 | openSUSE Current updates | openSUSE Current updates | Yes | Yes 8 | packman-essentials | packman-essentials | Yes | Yes

Ok I got rid of nearly all branding packages and all the gtk2 engines and now got the updates. And yes pulseaudio seems to work again. Thanks! -Andi -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
