konsole size in KDE
Hi, did something change recently in KDE and Konsole? Since today (TW / full update) every time that I trigger the konsole I have one of size 220x27 (seems that is adjusted to fit the extra large second menu bar now). I resize it manually and after changing Desktop the size is reset again to the large one. Same after removing .config/konsolerc Does anyone have this issue? If so, is there a bsc#? -- SUSE Software Solutions Germany GmbH Maxfeldstr. 5 90409 Nuremberg Germany (HRB 36809, AG Nürnberg) Managing Director: Felix Imendörffer

Which exact version and revision of konsole do you have? rpm -q konsole There is a change in the latest Tumbleweed snapshot (20210828) related to this, do you have it installed already? ==== konsole ==== Subpackages: konsole-part konsole-part-lang - Add patch from upstream to fix KXmlGUI toolbars and Konsole MainWindow size (kde#436471, kde#430036, kde#439339, boo#1188074): * 0001-Fix-KXmlGUI-toolbars-and-konsole-MainWindow-size.patch - Add patch from upstream to fix the MainWindow size when there is no saved size (like the first time a user runs Konsole) (kde#437791): * 0001-Fix-MainWindow-size-when-there-is-no-saved-size.patch Kind Regards, Wolfgang

So I suppose this change caused your problem now? Maybe you experience what Ahmad Safir wrote meanwhile, i.e. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=441610 ? Kind Regards, Wolfgang

(From the bug report) STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. open a konsole window 2. resize it 3. switch to a different virtual desktop 4. switch back I am not using OpenBox but yes, this is one of the issues if we add an extra step: 0. remove .config/konsolerc The other issue is that the default size (the one that I get at the first run of konsole) is the absurdly large one. A workaround that I found is: resize the konsole manually, and exit to force the creation of a new .config/konsolerc. With that seems that changing desktops keeps the new size. -- SUSE Software Solutions Germany GmbH Maxfeldstr. 5 90409 Nuremberg Germany (HRB 36809, AG Nürnberg) Managing Director: Felix Imendörffer

I am not using OpenBox but yes, this is one of the issues if we add an extra step:
0. remove .config/konsolerc
That's a bit weird, because once you open a konsole for the very first time, konsolerc will be created.
The other issue is that the default size (the one that I get at the first run of konsole) is the absurdly large one.
That's a side-effect of the long text on the toolbars, if you hide the toolbars from the Settings menu, it should go away.
A workaround that I found is: resize the konsole manually, and exit to force the creation of a new .config/konsolerc. With that seems that changing desktops keeps the new size.

For completion, this is same bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=437791 But is weird, seems to be already fixed, but I am able to reproduce it in two different systems. -- SUSE Software Solutions Germany GmbH Maxfeldstr. 5 90409 Nuremberg Germany (HRB 36809, AG Nürnberg) Managing Director: Felix Imendörffer

If you're using OpenBox, then that would be https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=441610 -- Ahmad Samir
