[opensuse-factory] Adding whois to enhanced base
Hello everyone! Do you think it's a good idea to add whois to the enhanced basis pattern? I find it quite useful, so I have pushed it to my clone in gitorious and requested a merge. Greetings, -- Javier Llorente

... isn't whois part of the pattern(s) which include the name server(s)? There it would fit better. Lars -- Lars Müller [ˈlaː(r)z ˈmʏlɐ] Samba Team SUSE Linux, Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany

Do you mean "dhcp_dns_server"? There you won't find whois. But yes, it's part of "network_admin". "enhanced_base" also includes some network utilities ;-) Cheers, -- Javier Llorente

From my feeling it belongs more to the dhcp_dns_server and network_admin selection.

General network utilities are ok there. But whois? From my feeling clearly no. Lars -- Lars Müller [ˈlaː(r)z ˈmʏlɐ] Samba Team SUSE Linux, Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany

This was my decision too - I rejected the merge request before I actually read this thread, but I'm happy I'm not the only one. Greetings, Stephan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

it since it is such a common tool in my observances. Besides, its so small... would it really bloat the base package? bloat is not defined by size.
