[opensuse-factory] New X86_64 and java/jre
Hey Group; I am kind of new to 64 bit machines- hence, my question. I downloaded for the 64 bit machine a OpenOffice-file.tar I un-tarred it.rpms and ran the jre.rpm file. I saw noting it but what appears to be a clean rpm load. Rpm -q does not show it as being installed. Rpm -q jre does show as I remember version 1.6 OpenOffice wants jre-32. I OpenOffice is telling me that it is a 32 bit only file. Or can I just try it with a "--nodeps" argument -- 73 de Donn Washburn 307 Savoy Street Email: " n5xwb@hal-pc.org " Sugar Land, TX 77478 LL# 1.281.242.3256 Ham Callsign N5XWB HAMs : " n5xwb@arrl.net " VoIP via Gizmo: bmw_87kbike / via Skype: n5xwbg BMW MOA #: 4146 - Ambassador " http://counter.li.org " #279316 Did you know? You are welcome to "break" your system, if you wish. But why don't you use an rpm build for openSUSE systems and do away with all the hassle? http://software.opensuse.org/download/OpenOffice.org/ -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 OpenSUSE Linux http://en.opensuse.org/ Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

No, definitely don't. Dependencies are there for a reason, not just to annoy you.

Indeed. I would also strongly recommend to use the RPM packages for SUSE that are in the above mentioned repository. Add that URL to your installation sources in YaST2, and install with YaST2. And OpenOffice.org 2.2 will be in that repository soon: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=273077 cheers - -- -o) Pascal Bleser http://linux01.gwdg.de/~pbleser/ /\\ <pascal.bleser@skynet.be> <guru@unixtech.be> _\_v The more things change, the more they stay insane. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.5 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with SUSE - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFGRXL3r3NMWliFcXcRAn2sAKCkfv5KpmbOSI6N/0wXrCrbtXrPhQCfeVoB oEisubH3HaeQoSjbWsZxtxE= =fe3i -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
