15.2 -> 15.3rc problems with nVidia
Hi, I'm using openSUSE Leap 15.3 alpha/beta/gamma in a virtual machine for months without any problems. I could not report any bugs, so no t-shirt for me :-) Today I upgraded a real hardware from 15.2 to 15.3. The upgrade was almost completely successful, except for nVidia graphics. It seems, that kernel module version in the nVidia repo does not match the one in 15.3 RC: localhost:~ # rpm -qa | grep nvidia nvidia-computeG05-460.73.01-lp153.37.1.x86_64 nvidia-gfxG05-kmp-default-460.73.01_k5.3.18_54-lp153.37.1.x86_64 kernel-firmware-nvidia-20210208-2.4.noarch x11-video-nvidiaG05-460.73.01-lp153.37.1.x86_64 nvidia-glG05-460.73.01-lp153.37.1.x86_64 localhost:~ # uname -a Linux localhost.localdomain 5.3.18-56-default #1 SMP Wed Apr 21 07:55:27 UTC 2021 (5f858b1) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux nVidia -> 5.3.18_54 while the kernel is 5.3.18-56 Bye, CzP
Hi, I thought, that OBS is too busy, and waiting a day automatically resolves this issue. But I just checked and the kernel version mismatch is still there. Should I open a bugzilla ticket about it? Peter On 4/29/21 8:46 PM, Peter Czanik wrote:

Hi, Problem solved. It was not the version difference. I deleted and reinstalled all the nVidia packages, and suddenly loading the nVidia modules worked -> graphics worked again, as expected. So, it was a 15.2 -> 15.3 upgrade problem. Is it worth a bug report? Peter On 4/30/21 1:23 PM, Peter Czanik wrote:

I don't think so. Probably it won't be reproducable and I didn't hear from anyone having issues with the driver update lately. Thanks, Stefan
