[opensuse-factory] [Question] How to add local mirrors into our mirrorbrain?
Hi, all, One of my friend, Aron Xu from Debian, is collecting all openSUSE mirrors across China mainland. According to him, there're many such mirrors from universities. And I asked him to mirror: ---------- ../ debug <== optional distribution factory-snapshot factory-tested repositories source <== optional update across all the local mirrors. Then I'll get a mirror list. Will it be enough to just transfer this list to our server manager( to whom?), or do I still need some additional setup on the local mirrors to make them compatible with mirrorbrain? Thanks Marguerite -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Great, thanks!

Please tell admin@opensuse.org about it, that's the usual contact address for all server admin problems including mirrorbrain, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger aj@{suse.com,opensuse.org} Twitter/Identica: jaegerandi SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GF: Jeff Hawn,Jennifer Guild,Felix Imendörffer,HRB16746 (AG Nürnberg) GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Mirror configuration how-to, including rsync modules and access to staging content, configuration of an rsync server for Mirrorbrain is explained here in detail: http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Mirror_howto http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Mirror_infrastructure Andreas -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Thanks, Andreas, Now I have the list, but I've to make sure they obey our mirror "rules". The list: Registered already: mirror.bjtu.edu.cn mirrors.ustc.edu.cn mirrors.sohu.com www.pnms.cn/opensuse fundawang.lcuc.org.cn New: mirrors.163.com mirrors.tuna.tsinghua.edu.cn mirrors.tju.edu.cn ftp.sjtu.edu.cn And I and Aron have found a problem, eg: bjtu is a registered mirror, the most well known one in China( because BJTU stands for the most famous CS university in China). That can't be wrong, because I checked in http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.4/iso/openSUSE-11.4-DVD-x86_64.... (because some of the registered mirror didn't seem to catch up 12.1) The other four are listed. and there's no reason to be fake to be a registered mirror. So we never had the bjtu mirror. We want to know how our "official redirector" works, how does it know a server is its child, by the "openSUSE scanner" or by other ways? because it seems not all of the mirror has a rsync server running for the scanner to scan. And we can't "control" them, because two of them are the world-500 companies. and others are universities' properties. we don't even have admin access to all of them. So the situation seems to be: We have mirrors in China, but redirector doesn't redirect us to some of them due to technical issues. either us or them. Hi, Per, sorry for too many questions. I solved most of my questions just after I sent my last email. ------------------------------ first choice: rsync second choice: ftp last choice: http but it crawls. ------------------------------ bjtu has only http server. and it disables crawlers. (because of very very old hardwares) can I have the characters/details of our crawlers? then it can let our crawler go. or bjtu is a black hole to our redirector.
