Ok, everyone is reporting that Firefox v3.0 will be released on Tuesday, June 17th. What are the odds of it making it's way into the 11.0 release, or when will it be pushed as an update? --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

How about "when it was packaged and well tested"? :-) Bye, Steve --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

The answer for previous versions has been: WHEN it is ready :^) you asked. -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

True, but that again doesn't answer anything. Like how much work it will take to verify that it's ready for 11.0. Since I don't have any idea what kind of testing is required, I have no idea what the time frame is. Basically, would it be a big deal to install it off the Mozilla site, or should I wait for the "official" pacakge? Granted, RC1 works fine, so it probably wouldn't be a big deal anyway. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

It's pretty simple and written in my blog as mentioned earlier. If you want to test the latest Firefox package subscribe to mozilla:beta and update from there. This is the current state of the openSUSE "version" of Firefox which will end up as online update for 11.0. I can't tell when the online update will finally be there but I think it will be soon after the official Firefox release. The buildservice might be a bit faster but that's how it works ;-) Wolfgang --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

I'm using RC2 from mozilla site, and have no problem. It's a simple .tgz, unpack it and run. -- Kind regards --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Obviously, web browsers are the MOST frequently used apps these days. Should always be given a higher, if not the highest priority, in arranging updates. We just need a system that can surf. And about Opera 9.5 Final: It was released two days ago, but the package in factory-non-oss is still 9.23. Since Adobe removed some non-gtk APIs in flash player >9.0.105, Flash Player distributed with 11.0 does not work with Opera 9.2x but 9.5, which for sure disappoints many Opera users. This may sound a kind of pushy, but users do need Firefox 3 Final and Opera 9.5 Final ready in the update repo ASAP. Regards, Thruth On 6/14/08, Gabriel <gabriel@opensuse.org> wrote:

In which update repo? The official one for 11.0 (where neiter 11.0 nor Firefox 3 is officially released yet)? Please complain again if both is released and the update takes too long. The Opera 9.50 contains security fixes, so there will be an official update also for older SUSE dists. One thing to your attention. Opera 9.50 has native 64bit which comes for the first time. If you do an update on 64bit arch, you'll get a 32bit version, because you have 32bit version of Opera. You have to uninstall the 32bit version first and then install it via update.
