Wow, another rsync run necessary. It brings new metadata and changes mainly within repo/oss/suse/src/, so maybe it is working now already. Is this expected during a sync or is this only a one-time issue? Not only that, but it's worse: the suse subdirectory contains only "src" and "setup". Thus, something's seriously broken in the generation of the Factory tree. As far as I can see, the internal machine which generates the tree seems to have a problem - so the tree on download.o.o was emptied at 18:37, when it was updated from there. You might be able to use widehat.opensuse.org as replacement for the moment; it still has the tree, and I disabled its syncing for now so that it isn't emptied too. You could do that, but download.o.o would not redirect to it, for now it sends all requests to widehat.o.o. OK, ftp5.gwdg.de has just started a fresh rsync.
Is it worth to revert to a state before 18:00 h and _after_reverting to rsync again? The overall size of 40 GB should definitely be worth to give an answer... You could do that, but download.o.o would not redirect to it, for now it sends all requests to widehat.o.o.
Anyway, the tree is currently reassembled / restored on download.o.o, let's see when it's done.
The new tree is in transit to download.o.o and has 5 gigs in suse/i586 already, therefore I suggest that you start syncing now.
I hope the tree will be a good one :-)

Good question, actually I don't know. I don't know how different the new tree (which is flying in right now) is from the tree that existed this afternoon (and that you still have backed up, and which exists on widehat as well).
The overall size of 40 GB should definitely be worth to give an answer...
widehat claims that it would transfer 16GB to sync up, and download.o.o is 33GB right now so still missing ~5GB I assume. The number that widehat tells me is *shrinking*. So I would deduct that it is worth to restore the afternoon tree first, and then sync it from d.o.o. In 20 or 30 minutes, d.o.o should be complete I guess. Once the command rsync -a stage.opensuse.org::opensuse-full-with-factory/opensuse/factory \ . --stats -n -h | awk '/^Total file size/ { print $4; exit } gives a stable number, it should be finished ;) Peter -- Contact: admin@opensuse.org (a.k.a. ftpadmin@suse.com) #opensuse-mirrors on freenode.net Info: http://en.opensuse.org/Mirror_Infrastructure SUSE LINUX Products GmbH Research & Development

download.opensuse.org is unusable, too. It's content file is 0 bytes. Another sync seems to be started, now. I fear, I have to wait until tomorrow for the next update.
Too late! It is also broken: NOT_nimrodel:~ # time nice zypper dup -l Error building the cache: /var/cache/zypp/raw/OSS (widehat backup)ZfZlSE: No repository index in content file. It actually worked until it started to sync from download.opensuse.org, which it did shortly before you tried. This is what I thought I had disabled -- unfortunately I wasn't aware that another sync job encompasses the "new" factory tree, so it still started to sync. Sorry about that.
