[opensuse-factory] Strange crash 11.3
Hi: In my workstation, the following odd situation happends with 11.3 Sometimes it randomly freezes. 1) Keyboard does not respond. 2) Sounds continue playing as normal 3) mouse only moves correctly 4) The desktop enviroment, looks fine, but clicking on the mouse makes no action whatsoever. 5) screen gets minimally garbled randomly in the right corner. I use an nvidia video card with the noveau driver. there is no evidence in the logs whatsoever. question is, where I can start looking ?

I've seen some similar issues with 11.3 RC1 on an Asus Netbook, with more-or-less a default KDE 'desktop' installation (not the post-install desktop netbook config which I still can't get to grips with). What is your set-up? I intend to upgrade to RC2 tomorrow and will report here whether the problems persist. I initially put the pauses down to a problem with the WiFi link but streaming music / video seems unaffected. I don't see (5) but I think the Asus uses Intel video (the machine is at home at the moment, and I'm at work, so I can't check). In my case things recover after a few (~5 to 10) seconds. The event occurs often enough to be annoying but not regularly enough to pin it down - maybe once an hour? -- Cheers Richard (MQ) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Apparently it is an issue with the nuoveau driver, removed it and installed Nvidia closed source driver and the issue disappeared. :| -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
