[opensuse-factory] Udev rule and the xorg.conf.d missing on LiveCD?

Hi. I don´t wanna overload Bugzilla, so i´m writing this mail at first in according to bug 592193, when LiveCD finally boots in VMware, but installation still hangs. As Stefan Dirsch wrote in comment 19, possible reason is udev rule and the xorg.conf.d snippet are simply missing on the LiveCD. Could you take a look at it? I tried factory Gnome LiveCD, build 0552 and KDE LiveCD, build 0553. Thanks a lot. -- S pozdravom / Best regards, Rasto -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Meanwhile I've tried build KDE LiveCD 0553 and the udev rule and xorg.conf.d snippets appear to exist on LiveCD. So it must have a different reason. What exactly do you mean with "installation hangs"? Could you switch to Linux console (Ctrl-Alt-F2 or how ever this works in a vmware window), transfer Xorg.0.log via network and attach it? Usually, it doesn't, it is intercepted by the host. Sometimes it works. Alternative is to use command "chvt 1" (if it hasn't hanged), or start in runlevel 3 from grub. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. If i choose direct installation from openSUSE installer, it´s simply stuck/frozen, just a black screen. I can´t do anything. I´m not able to swtich to console. If i install from booted LiveCD via live installation, installation runs, but after reboot freezes. -- S pozdravom / Best regards, Rasto -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

I didn't try that yet.

It doesn't freeze, but I got a black screen. I could switch to Linux console and kill the Xserver (killall XOrg), then the automatic installation continued in ncurses mode. I also get a black screen, but I still can switch to Linux console. Unfortunately there is no login console available, so I can't figure out what's happening at that point. :-( Best regards, Stefan Public Key available ------------------------------------------------------ Stefan Dirsch (Res. & Dev.) I suggest to open a bugreport for that (LiveCD). Best regards, Stefan Public Key available ------------------------------------------------------ Stefan Dirsch (Res. & Dev.)
