question to update openSUSE-2020-2091 (systemd/udev)
Hi, according to the description the update openSUSE-2020-2091 for Leap 15.2: https://lists.opensuse.org/archives/list/updates@lists.opensuse.org/thread/C... ... - Remove mq-deadline selection from 60-io-scheduler.rules (bsc#1177490) according to the rpm changelog rpm -q --changelog udev-234-lp152.31.16.1.x86_64 |less this change was already done in October, * Di Okt 20 2020 Andreas Herrmann <aherrmann@suse.com> - Remove mq-deadline selection from 60-io-scheduler.rules but after the Update /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/60-io-scheduler.rules rpm -qf /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/60-io-scheduler.rules udev-234-lp152.31.16.1.x86_64 looks unchanged, especially: tail /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/60-io-scheduler.rules # MQ: BFQ scheduler for HDD ENV{.IS_MQ}=="1", ATTR{queue/rotational}!="0", ATTR{queue/scheduler}="bfq" # Non-MQ: CFQ scheduler for HDD ENV{.IS_MQ}!="1", ATTR{queue/rotational}!="0", ATTR{queue/scheduler}="cfq" # Non-MQ: deadline scheduler for SSD ENV{.IS_MQ}!="1", ATTR{queue/rotational}=="0", ATTR{queue/scheduler}="deadline" LABEL="scheduler_end" Was this change accidentally left out from the update? The related bug (bsc#1177490) is not accessible. Regards, Dieter

The mq-deadline selection was an accidental change and this update reverts that change. Adrian

thanks for the explanation. Seems the accidental change did not land in Leap 15.2. When I read the change description I thought that now another scheduler would be used, e.g. "none", and wanted to check the new setting and was surprised there was no change. Dieter

I haven't checked the whole history, but the internal build system shows there were multiple updates to the systemd package in SLE-15-SP2 from where Leap gets its updates. I assume that one of these updates contained the change, then the bug was reported which you linked and the accidental change got reverted.
When I read the change description I thought that now another scheduler would be used, e.g. "none", and wanted to check the new setting and was surprised there was no change.
It seems that you did not receive the intermediate update which contains the regression then. Adrian
