[opensuse-factory] openoffice.org for PPC factory
Hello, Until now I tested smaller office sw on PPC, like abiword + gnumeric and koffice. Now I wanted to install OpenOffice.org, but I could not as OpenOffice.org is not available. Looking at the logs at https://build.opensuse.org/package/live_build_log?arch=ppc&package=OpenOffice_org&project=openSUSE%3AFactory&repository=standard I see, that it was last tried to build beginning August. Could you please trigger a rebuild, and check if it works now? Thanks, bye, CzP -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

There is no "trigger a rebuild", this would work automatically if OOo- bootstrap had built. Greetings, Stephan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Hi Peter, Next reason: https://build.opensuse.org/package/live_build_log?arch=ppc&package=OpenOffice_org- libs-extern&project=openSUSE%3A11.1&repository=standard Greetings, Stephan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

I hope, it gets resolved before release. OOo is a key package on the desktop, except for some really low end machines, like the EFIKA (400Mhz PPC with 128MB of RAM), where AbiWord & Co. work better. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=449711#c7 Could you please provide it in a repo after the release? OOo is a pretty important piece of software... Didn't you say in an earlier mail that you never used it on ppc? Greetings, Stephan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

No. All I said, that "I did not test OOo recently" as my main test machine has a 400Mhz CPU with 128MB RAM, and for everyday work I use the latest release, not factory. BTW: I'm not the only user of the PPC port, even if I'm the most loud one :-) Without OOo, the PPC port is pretty much a dead horse... So you guys advocate that we do no longer publish the ppc port? Greetings, Stephan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Not at all, but many users will find it unusable and the already small user base will shrink further. This would be a great shame. -- Cheers Richard (MQ) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

You're kidding right? At least I hope so. openSUSE is one of the few main distros left that actually officially support PPC. While we don't have a very large user base, I generally advocate it for PPC systems. I also have a colection of Macs that I run it on when I have them setup(not now ATM). I was pleased to see PPC return for 10.0 since it hadn't been available since 7.3 outside of SLED/SLES. Is this something that is being actively considered. As for me, I don't use openoffice, but a lot of people do. I prefer KOffice. Much faster and easier to use IMO. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

He doesn't on his older hardware, but I use it (when I can) on my 1.5GHz G4 and I'd assume he does too. -- Evan McClain /* No Comment */ evan.mcclain@gatech.edu
