Does the touchpad works a PS2 mouse, ie. pointing & clicking with hardware buttons? no the buttons do not work. Please file a bugreport (component kernel). Attach the output of "dmesg" and, if possible (maybe with an older Live CD) the output of "dmesg" with a still working kernel. Mention the bug # here. Yeah it was weird that lsusb was not listing the device at all. The touchpad is not an USB device, it got detected on both boots (see the dmesg diff I attached to the bug), so lsusb would seem irrelevant in this case. Patrick, maybe trying with "i8042.reset=1" and "i8042.nomux=1" (boot parameters for the kernel) might help, just for the case it is not the hardware (which still seems to be correctly recognized by the kenel...) Uh oh, thats a good thing to remember for next touchpad troubleshotting ;(

Look at https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=700159 - maybe this makes you feel better :-)

Glad it works for you now, and even more happy that we did not introduce a touchpad regression with the elantech et al fixes. -- Stefan Seyfried "Dispatch war rocket Ajax to bring back his body!" -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

I will be available and willing provided I still have the laptop. It was a "move info to another windoz machine, I don't want this pos any more"/ freebie. Has an intermittend screen lose, probably a broken video cable. Replaced the 4400mah battery with a 5200mah for us$20 and it now has some usable life. tks, -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
