I have set permissions and modes in /etc/permission.local. Rebooted and that information is being overlooked in 12.1. Cheers to you also. I run SuSEconfig a lot. It sees permission.local and prints it out after it reads permission.*. It does set some permissions and ownerships but not all on reboots. Which causes KDE, Kmixer, amarok, tvtime and others to not work. -- 73 de Donn Washburn 307 Savoy Street Email:" n5xwb@comcast.net " Sugar Land, TX 77478 LL# 1.281.242.3256 Ham Callsign N5XWB HAMs : " n5xwb@arrl.net " VoIP via Skype:n5xwbg BMWMOA #:4146 Ambassador " http://counter.li.org " #279316 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

The /etc/permissions* method only works for static files. To change permissions of device files you need to install udev rules. However, audio and v4l device permissions should just work out of the box for local users. cu Ludwig -- (o_ Ludwig Nussel //\ V_/_ http://www.suse.de/ SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Jeff Hawn, Jennifer Guild, Felix Imendörffer, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Then it might be a cron job. I have grepped around a bit in my 11.4, but I did not find it. I have forgotten how it was done. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
