[opensuse-factory] Midnight Commander needs maintainer?/maintenance!
https://bugzilla.novell.com/buglist.cgi?query_format=advanced&emailassigned_to1=1&short_desc=mc%20midnight&field0-0-0=resolution&short_desc_type=anywordssubstr&email1=nadvornik%40suse.com&type0-0-0=notequals&value0-0-0=duplicate&classification=openSUSE&product=openSUSE%2011.4&product=openSUSE%2012.1&product=openSUSE%2012.2&emailtype1=exact shows 14 mc bugs against supported releases and Factory assigned to nadvornik, one of two "maintainers" listed by osc. 4 are marked fixed, and none of those show any activity by nadvornik. dlovasko has no mc bugs against supported releases assigned, and is only associated to two mc bugs, though via bug comments it appears he is somehow related to two recent fixes. So it appears mc needs maintainer (and version) maintenance. The current Factory version is 4.8.1.3, while the latest is 4.8.3, which will miss version cutoff if it isn't updated soon, if that milestone hasn't already passed. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." *shyly raises a hand* And have a look at that buglist again ;) -dnh -- 'It's amazing I won. I was running against peace, prosperity and incumbency.' -- George W. Bush. I'm a big user of mc and I frequently build it from source, so I guess I could lend a hand. However, I'm really busy right now and I would have to take a look at the bugs later and before jumping in. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

That'd be great. Would you request maintainership? (login to OBS, goto https://build.opensuse.org/package/show?package=mc&project=Base%3ASystem and "Request role addition" ;)

I already had a look at 4 (got no "head" for more today), and between us and nadvornik and dlovasko, and upstream, and maybe some others who'll join ... ;) -dnh -- Two atoms are walking along. I abused my Base:System-maintainer superpowers and accepted your request to be maintainer of Base:System/mc. Have a lot of fun... PS: Thanks!
If you want something more to do (cheek), how about adding mc to the rescue system in the dvd? O:-) - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. Not really.

It isn't already?!?!? I'd love that. If mc can still be compiled against ncurses (currently it's using slang[1]) there wouldn't even be an extra lib required as far as I can see. And even if not it'd be ~2 MB for mc + ~1MB for libslang. But first, I (and I guess the other new maintainers) will want to clear the bug-backlog and update mc itself. So, mail me via PM first and then poke me again and/or file an enhancement bug in a couple of weeks ... -dnh [1] there probably are reasons for that. To be found out. I prefer my tin[2] with ncurses instead of slang ;) [2] got 2 extra patches I probably should push upstream as feature requests, see my home:dnh repo, updating to 2.0.1 locally for tests ... -- I know I can't see sanity in the rear view mirror any more. -- stevo -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
