[opensuse-factory] TW 20161217 - Problem with Kmail
I already upgraded my system to the mentioned snapshot containing KDE Apps 16.12.0. I had some trouble opening Mails in Kontact/Kmail. After 2 seconds a window appears stating something with "retrieving..." and akonadiserver crashing sometimes on system shutdown and closing Kontact. Thus, I was not able to open a mail. Went back to the versions from Factory_Standard and here all is fine again. Did anybody already test it too? Robby. --

I wonder how you got 20161217, actually at 6:20pm CEST only 20161216 is available on download.o.o ? -- Bruno Friedmann Ioda-Net Sàrl www.ioda-net.ch Bareos Partner, openSUSE Member, fsfe fellowship GPG KEY : D5C9B751C4653227 irc: tigerfoot -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

KMail is broken in TW 20161217 also for me. I'm using KMail standalone without Kontact. The mail notifier in the systray shows new mails arrived. I can see also new number of new mails in the folder treeview. At the beginning, I could not see a divided message list or message viewer to the right, just a big content pane showing Retrieving Folder Contents Please wait . . . which was flickering whenever clicking to a different folder in the tree. After about 1-2 minutes, the divided message list and message viewer for the folders appeared, but whenever clicking on a message in the message list, the message viewer still just shows the Retrieving... message. The akonadi service is still running after all these actions: rkrell@rkrell:~> akonadictl status Akonadi Control: running Akonadi Server: running Akonadi Server Search Support: available (Remote Search) No output of kmail started in a terminal at all. I started kmail in valgrind which prints out a long list of errors immediately at startup, all of them seem to refer to QtWebEngine and OpenGL, maybe an expert knowing the source code should have a look at it. I'm using the nouveau graphics driver, but don't have currently the Mesa-dri-nouveau package installed, according to the latest recommendations in this list and from zypper. Any hints how to repair this or whatever else to provide which can be helpful for a further analyze? Got to update my own answer: I did install the Mesa-dri-nouveau (on an Optimus hardware) and restart the system. After that, KMail works and shows all mails immediately. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
here it is intel and this should work with webengine as far as I know. And using apps from factory_standard and factory frameworks repos it works fine. I thought TW and both repos should be at almost same versions now. -- On Sonntag, 18. Dezember 2016 22:30:13 CET René Krell wrote:

This info helped me to overcome my problems after 20161217 update. My repositories only are the normal Tumbleweed updates, Packman and KDE Extra. In my case kmail did not show messages even after 10 minutes of waiting. Akonadictl refresh did nothing to resolve the problem. After using http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Applications/openSUSE_Factory... and http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Frameworks5/openSUSE_Factory/ I can read the emails again. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

After several minutes of running kmail and sometimes navigating in mails the problem occurs again, the message viewer shows just the Retrieving... message and doesn't recover from this state. Even restarting kmail doesn't help at this point, but akonadictl restart helps. As said in the BR: kdepim-runtime failed to build in Factory: this did not happen in the stagings. Probably some components (libkgapi, likely) need a rebuild against the new PIM stack. As a workaround (but it is unsupported: if it breaks, you get to keep the pieces) you can get kdepim-runtime from KDE:Applications. -- Luca Beltrame - KDE Forums team GPG key ID: A29D259B

As Luca already indicated, some libraries didn't got rebuild after KDE Applications 16.12 was accepted in Factory. This issue got now resolved and the updates are in the progress to be published as a special update, which are available through the Tumbleweed Update channel. Performing the update should deliver you an updated version of the libKF5GAPI* libraries, libkolab* libraries and kdepim-runtime. This should fix the issues with kmail after the last TW snapshot update Raymond

Thanks Raymond. Installed the fixed packages and all is back to normal. -- Gertjan Lettink, a.k.a. Knurpht openSUSE Board Member openSUSE Forums Team -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Did you also try sending a mail in kmail? For me, this is broken beginning from TW 20161217, too. The mail to be sent is stuck in outbox.
