[opensuse-factory] TW Runlevel3 shows very large fonts in console
Hi, When Tumbleweed is installed on my second drive and I boot to runlevel3 the fonts are about 36 pts. How can I make a screenshot when in console for a bug report? How can I reduce the size of the font? Is any one else experiencing this? Cheers! I am not. google might help you. it's a realllly goooood first step to solving a problem. what does /etc/vconsole.conf contain? there is also "man vconsole.conf" -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet freenode -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

The obvious choice second to a screencapturing software is to use "screen-capturing" hardware - an external camera. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

For posting a screenshot without a bug report you can use susepaste-screenshot and email the link.
How can I reduce the size of the font?
Best way depends on why it's occurring.

Not here. When booted to 3 (aka multi-user.target), does /dev/fb0 exist? When booted to 5 (aka graphical.target) and you switch to one of the vttys with Ctrl-Alt-Fn, does the font still seem to be 36? Do you get the same big font if you append 'plymouth.enable=0' to your grub cmdline using the e key at the grub menu? What mode is in use on the vttys? If you navigate to the applicable subdir under /sys/devices/platform/*-framebuffer.0/ you should find a file "mode" that says what it is. An easier way to make this discovery might be to install the fbset and libx86-1 rpms from the 12.3 repos. Booted to 3, how many columns and rows does 'inxi -G' report? For posting a SS already made. I forgot to paste the link to making one: https://www.screen-app.com/linux-screencast/how-to-take-a-screenshot-in-the-... IIRC I've seen rumblings about ImageMagick's import command being able to do so, but never managed to confirm. -- "Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Whatever else you get, get wisdom." The short answer is YES, and the long answer is that I see this after selecting TW from the grub2 menu after which the 'boot-sequence' scrolls on the screen in something like 800x600 resolution :-(. I used "setfont" to fix the problem. Thanks Patrick. -- Cheers! Roman -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

My mistake: I forgot to add "also" in the sentence, "and the long answer is that I also see this after ...".
