[opensuse-factory] Tumbleweed kernel - warning no X
All, Just a warning that I just updated my Tumbleweed install today. It has been a few weeks since I did it last, but the 2.6.38.4 kernel failed to allow X to work. See my new bug: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=691322 Resolution was as simple as rebooting and selecting the 2.6.38.2 kernel which Tumbleweed left in the grub menu. Thanks Greg -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

That looks like a virtual box issue (your log said the drivers couldn't be loaded.) I don't recommend using virtualbox with tumbleweed at all, if you do so, you really are on your own, sorry. good luck, greg k-h -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Seeing the same behavior here. I also had the issue with no X (gdm does not start at runlevel 5) as well as having virtualbox installed. I un-installed virtualbox and rebooted, but same behavior. -- Cheers, Trey ---- You may be sure that when a man begins to call himself a "realist," he is preparing to do something he is secretly ashamed of doing. -- Sydney Harris Darwin tbook-2.local 10.7.0 i386 20:28 up 1 day, 7:22, 3 users, load averages: 0.14 0.11 0.22 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Sounds like a different issue, care to file a new bug with the kernel and xorg logs? thanks, greg k-h -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Yes, I will, but will likely be tomorrow before I can access the box again. -- Cheers, Trey ---- Do not seek death; death will find you.
