Hi,
Bug 1125624 causes sddm to read garbage values as home directory in some cases, which causes login failures, random directories inside your home directory and maybe other weird issues.
This was fixed on Monday, but apparently the Tumbleweed Update channel is currently broken in a way that the update does not get picked by zypper. So please install sddm-0.18.0-1.1 from the update repositoriy manually, even if you're not affected by this yet.
This should be fixed by bumping the version of sddm in :Update, but so far I've been unable to reach anyone who could do that.
Thanks, Fabian

I did.

-v dup gives me:
The following 2 packages are going to be upgraded: sddm 0.18.0-6.1 -> 0.18.0-8.1 sddm-branding-openSUSE 0.18.0-6.1 -> 0.18.0-8.1
So, do you suggest to do a manual downgrade to 1.1, even though 6.1 is the previous one? Please explain the exact action better.

Please read the whole thread.
Between: | sddm | package | 0.18.0-8.1 | x86_64 | openSUSE-Tumbleweed-Update | sddm | package | 0.18.0-6.1 | x86_64 | openSUSE-Tumbleweed-Oss
There is no sddm 0.18.0-1.1 anymore, as Max Lin wrote, he fixed the wrong version.

For some reason, my thread starts with Fabian's message (which I've replied to), subject: "Please install sddm from the update channel manually". Either the subject has changed, or the previous messages have not been delivered.
Between: | sddm | package | 0.18.0-8.1 | x86_64 | openSUSE-Tumbleweed-Update | sddm | package | 0.18.0-6.1 | x86_64 | openSUSE-Tumbleweed-Oss

Anyhow, as far as I understand things are "back to normal" now and no manual interaction is required.

Thorsten
So before upgrading the situation is
i+ | sddm | package | 0.18.0-1.1 | x86_64 | (System Packages) v | sddm | package | 0.18.0-8.1 | x86_64 | update v | sddm | package | 0.18.0-6.1 | x86_64 | oss
0.18.0-8.1 was picked during zypper dup operations.
Now I guess once the fixes are everywhere update channel will see 0.18.0-8.1 disappear and a > 0.18.0-8.1 will be published in oss
Thanks for the kick fix anyway
