[opensuse-factory] Current factory snapshot fails when booting
Using 11.0 beta3. I did zypper dup today and now system boots only in safe mode. I have exactly this using factory boot iso (attempting to do network installation of 11.0b3) - several different machines, probably the same kernel? It looks as though it is linked to https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=375836 - I've tried the work-arounds listed there (hwprobe=-parallel,-misc.par and pnpacpi=off) to no effect. Can anyone boot the current factory boot.iso? -- Cheers Richard (MQ) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Can anyone boot the current factory boot.iso?
PS - two of these machines worked "perfectly" installing the previous betas for 11.0, absolutely no changes to either since then. A serious regression, methinks. -- Cheers Richard (MQ) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

the May 13th-ish boot.iso booted for me, but the installed sys hung @ GRUB> prompt on boot. the current boot.iso i can't boot, as above. but, using the FULL DVD, http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/11.0-Beta3/iso/torrent/openSUSE-11... and selcting a FTP/HTTP netinstall works, and gets me up/running. hth! --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Yes, I can confirm that the full DVD boots OK on the machine with a DVD reader - but it's of limited use on the one with CD only :-( We'll just have to wait for a fix to reach the server... -- Cheers Richard (MQ) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

For me it's: BUG:Int 14:CR2 1007c039 (Lenovo Thinkpad T60 2007-63G) on factory.

For me booting failsave worked, as did adding "acpi=off" to the normal
image. Only drawback is that I don't have any usb devices, touchpad etc :-/
Ciao

"Proper" solution: Download and install the kernel-vanilla-2.6.25.4-2 rpm.
Reboot into that one (it will be installed in parallel to the existing
kernel.

Doesn't help much for boot.iso though - can anyone tell me if this has now been fixed? I see the file date has changed to today... -- Cheers Richard (MQ) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Yes, I have 1007c039 too: on AMD 2400XP home-brew system. I hadn't noticed the different addresses (or whatever the code signifies) -- Cheers Richard (MQ) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
