[opensuse-factory] Failure to connect to WPA (PEAP) network on start-up
On start-up, the WiFi notification always shows a failure to connect to this particular network in my university which uses WPA (PEAP) encryption. But after it reports failing to connect on start-up, it eventually connects to the network automatically. This would be a non-issue, however, KMail thinks this means the server is unavailable and my email accounts are not automatically synced, even after the establishment of a stable wireless connection. I have missed a few days worth of emails at times before I realised what was happening. My current workaround this problem is to manually restart the connection to my email servers in KMail though it would be nice to figure out what the possible root problem is. Hi, Are you using wicked or Network Manager here? If this is about wicked, could you please open a bug report. Please attach logs per: https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Bugreport_wicked I'd guess the problem here might be related to the missing callback registration at authentication phase in wicked's FSM. - -- Best Regards, Pawel Wieczorkiewicz SUSE LINUX GmbH | GF: Felix Imendörffer, Jane Smithard, Graham Norton HRB 21284 (AG Nürnberg) Maxfeldstr. 5, D-90409, Nürnberg Email: pawelw@suse.com | Phone: +49-911-740 53 - 613 GPG Fingerprint = 2E50 AA20 7A5C 2AAC 7A9C 4367 65B1 F079 D155 6665 -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iQEcBAEBCgAGBQJW0B5tAAoJEIgpEzNan4VozfoH/3tlFjejoU7l8gpef7VJ0re4 DaT2FxdZ9TRtHNr6x6jYwBCw8fXMjEC1X+ILV4ODa/QYBgp3GSQJsz4E7gKW7R+k SL44vLR+2X1rr6YGtKUQeWeULhkZlrg6v8+JoeHJKdUuIU7iVuw1ozk1c7rppxKR F2pwHZ+sfJWJvjgJbUzsYSdTYffLWgJGFnNOjk0GLJ1TaycR3YINTzyG0ySsujQl itRCka5aOmrvCqaUQwJxNDRYP9vYvwaigWHmb77fakMg/tKwA91u6ec4M81pWnYD tSlf0n/4IZFjUm50CRU6nOF2hSbJxJOQghn/F9n4E1itlr5z4ar7GqShr/bQ85g= =wQh8 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Nry隊Z)z{.r+맲rz^ˬzN(֜^ ޭ隊Z)z{.r+0Ǩ

I am using the stock Network Manager.

I think I have figured out the issue. It tries to connect to the network but the credentials are being stored in KWallet, which has yet to be unlocked with my GPG Passphrase. I suppose the best workaround is to simply tell it to not connect to the network automatically.

After subsequent tests and updates, I think there may be more to this than KWallet. Disabling the automated connection so I can decrypt my KWallet first does not resolve the issue. The network manager still fails to connect to encrypted networks on its first attempt. I have now filed a bug report here, and am willing to carry out additional tests. https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=969938

Looks like a bug in kmail to me... it should retry sync if link wasn't functional the last time it tried.. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
