[opensuse-factory] xfce4 update now landed in Tumbleweed

Just a short note saying that I've added the latest xfce4 update to Tumbleweed. It has survived my limited testing, and if anyone has any problems with it, please let me know. Next up, KDE 4.6.2... thanks, greg k-h -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Hi I would like to blog a bit about it and we have a presentation about 11.4 at next Saturday at Fosscomm where we can mention it. Can you give some more information about it? Like what kind of tests did you performed and how stable it is expected to be? Those questions might be stupid though since I really have not experience on that things to be honest ;-) We are talking about XFCE 4.8 right? Thanks in advance Kostas Koudaras 2011/4/30 Greg KH <gregkh@suse.de>:

I don't know what we are talking about here, there is no context :( Care to be a bit more specific? :) thanks, greg k-h -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Ok, I don't have any specifics, try asking the xfce developers, they know what they included, how they tested, and everything else. I just verified that everything built properly in the repo, and ran it as my main desktop for a day with no problems. In general I make sure everything in X11:xfce also builds on the last stable release and try to not intentionally break packages on older, still supported releases. However, I test the packages on Factory only. During the 4.6 to 4.8 transition there were quite a number of issues with the Xfce packages in Factory which took some time to iron out. So please do some testing (as you've done in this case) before pulling packages into Tumbleweed. I suppose I could send a warning to opensuse-xfce@ when there are rough times ahead (major update etc.). -- Guido Berhoerster -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Thanks, I'll watch out for that. Thanks for keeping the repo in such good shape, it was very easy to handle the Tumbleweed import, unlike other development repos... thanks, greg k-h -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

No, that's not what is in Factory, and this is stable now and is an upgrade for the existing 11.4 users. After 4.6.3 settles down, we'll move to that.
