Unable to get a copy of the log during startup but some more info copied from the screen. I started with "sudo startx" The following is displayed XINIT using config file /usr/share/x11/xorg.conf.d (EE) server terminated error(1) connection refused The VMbox logfile shows per attached VMbox log files. Not sure how I can get the logfiles from the linux virtual system disk. I hope to get another PC system running before the end of the week and I can then run the linux system on real hardware, I also had notification that there was a new version of VMbox and installed that and tried again with the same results. On getting access tyo the linux logs can I get a copy of KDE Live DVD and start it up (assuming it will work) and use it to access the log files? Thanks, Andy

Please, please, do not start a new thread. Use the "reply to list" button of your mail program, or if missing, "reply to all". Starting a new thread makes very difficult for us to follow the issue.

No. Log in as root in text mode, then issue "startx".

You have a terminal, that's all you need. for startx, probably less .X.err You can also use Putty in Windows to get a remote terminal session against the Linux guest, then read the files. Or WinScp to browse the files. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 13.1 x86_64 "Bottle" at Telcontar)
