[opensuse-factory] Bug in partitioner for 11.1 installation
Hi, I'm not sure if this is the correct place to report problems with the 11.1 installation, but here I go: I'm just installing openSuSE 11.1, and the partition table displayed during installation is wrong. In the graphical installer, I am shown a couple of partitions that do not exist, and existing partitions are shown with wrong sizes. A "parted" called on the command line at the same time shows the correct set-up. Since there is data on some of the partitions, I did not proceed with the installation. Has anyone seens this problem, and is there a way to fix it? Thanks, Henning -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

You should make copies of YaST log files, and the output of things like fdisk -l, desribing the differences with the graphical tool. Then you can submit a report into Bugzilla, search for the issue to see if its' already reported. Are you sure the partitioner is not showing you a global list of partitions? You can select individual disks, and it's always shown correct information to me. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

I was surprised by the same thing but I think I can explain it. I started off with a dual boot Vista/OpenSUSE 11.0 partitioned like this: Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda1 1 25527 205045596 7 HPFS/NTFS [Vista] /dev/sda2 * 25528 25539 96390 83 Linux [boot] /dev/sda3 25540 25601 498015 82 Linux swap /dev/sda4 25602 38913 106928640 83 Linux [/] However when I clicked on "Edit Partition Setup..." I saw this: /dev/sda1 HPFS/NTFS /dev/sda2 Linux /dev/sda3 Linux swap /dev/sda4 Extended /dev/sda5 Linux / /dev/sda6 Linux /home I think the installer is suggesting to convent my current sda4 partition (mounted as '/') into an extended partition and accommodate 2 sub-partitions: one for '/' and one for '/home'. But if you want to keep your partitioning as before you can click on the button "Import Mount Points..." at the bottom of the screen and confirm. ~/jc -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
