[opensuse-factory] No way to display unneeded/orphan packages after Package Groups were removed from YaST
Orphaned/unneeded and some other package classes were integrated in Package Groups view (I understand as sort of "meta-groups"). In current TW (I have now 20191112) there is no more Package Groups - no way to display this information anywhere else. Was it really intentional? This was useful functionality. ... there seems to be Repositories - @System - "Unmaintained Packages"; this list looks like what was called orphaned packages in the past. Is it correct and it is where orphans are shown now? Still am not sure whether there is something like "unneeded". -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

If answer to any question about possible regression in yast software manager is "use zypper", why bother having yast software manager in the first place?

Because you said "no way to display this information anywhere else", anywhere else includes command line too. -- Aus so krummem Holze, als woraus der Mensch gemacht ist, kann nichts ganz Gerades gezimmert werden. — Immanuel Kant SUSE Linux GmbH, Maxfeldstrasse 5, 90409 Nuernberg, Germany GF: Felix Imendörffer, Mary Higgins, Sri Rasiah HRB 21284 (AG Nürnberg)

"Unmaintained Packages" are installed packages that are not present in the shown repository. @System I understand includes all installed packages combined. @System Unmaintained should be installed from any repo (instead of looking at a particular) that are not in any of the defined repos, now. In YaST. orphaned I think is zypper parlance, I'm not sure what it means, but seems to be the same as "@System Unmaintained". - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. No, it is (was) not. Check what yast software manager shows in Leap 15.1 and before.
I don't remember seeing "orphaned" package in YaST? Where is it? Has it changed? Maybe in TW? I'll have a look later. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
