[opensuse-factory] radeonhd Issue on openSUSE 11.2 Milestone 8 and Stuffs
Hi List mates! I tried installing openSUSE 11.2 M8 (KDE4 LiveCD) two days ago, and it succeeded to boot, but failed to display the KDE 4 desktop (neither VESA or other resolutions). I eagerly installed it (last booted with VESA) fom terminal (Ctrl+Alt+F1): yast2/Miscellaneous/Live-Installer , succeeded to install, but again the LCD could not display the desktop, i could hear its KDE Startup sound, and saw the desktop few seconds only when i switch to terminal though. # lspci | grep VGA 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc M52 [Mobility Radeon X1300] The (quoted) /var/log/Xorg.0.log file was: (II) RADEONHD(0): LVDSSetBacklight: trying to set BL_MOD_LEVEL to: 0 (II) RADEONHD(0): Attempting to set Engine Clock to 200000 (II) RADEONHD(0): Current Engine Clock: 195750 (II) RADEONHD(0): Current Memory Clock: 324000 (WW) RADEONHD(0): Not supporting SetVoltage V1 yet (II) RADEONHD(0): Unused attribute: SET_VOLTAGE_GET_MAX_VOLTAGE: type 6 mode 1 index 0 (II) RADEONHD(0): Query for AtomBIOS Get Panel EDID: failed (II) RADEONHD(0): Found native mode: Modeline "1280x800" 68.90 1280 1301 1333 1408 800 804 808 816 (WW) RADEONHD(0): No monitor size info, assuming 96dpi. After that, the dekstop was clearly seen and much more faster than previous (radeonhd driver) one on openSUSE 11.1. Kudos to all contributors! :) Hopefully it will be fixed on next release[1]. The problem is i can not see the bootsplash screen only when i reinstall the kernel package, even i set the right kernel parameters (splash=silent showopts vga=0×317) like on openSUSE 11.1. Is there any easier way to solve this? The kernel package is a huge file that will suffer for the low (unreliable) bandwidth user like me, even (IMHO) reinstalling the package is the easiest way to do it. Btw, some issues I already posted on my blog[2]. Thanks in advance. [0] http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/Drivers:/Video/openSUSE_Facto...
