I just test installed Milestone 5 and discovered a few problems:
currently on M6 x86_64
I can't see MS6 yet online.
"zypper dup" from M5 :^)
- I can not install *.otf fonts in KDE
16:48 wahoo:~ # rpm -qf /usr/share/texmf/fonts/opentype/public/tex-gyre/texgyretermes-bold.otf texlive-2008-10.5
I don't understand? I go to the KDE system settings where usually I add fonts. I click the "add font" button and I go to the directory. There all the *.otf fonts are not shown for selection.
I don't see an option to *add* fonts ????
- In Yast and in the KDE system settings double clicks are needed although I declared wanting to open with single click in the KDE system settings. It's ennoying that single click and double click are not consistant through the whole installation
agreed, but one instance and the *only* I find or have noticed.
I need double clicks in the KDE system settings as well.
I don't.
- In can not switch at all to the text console with <CTRL><ALT><F1>
I don't know why, but I can and have been able to since I first installed Factory, 28 June.
But you agree that this should still work?
No, while i do agree that it should work, it does work here and has.
- I can not install the multimedia packages from packman because of libMagickCore.so.1 is missing
Packman will not have repos until 11.2 is shipped/announced.
Besides the packman problem which is probably linked to the fact that packman will release versions only after the official 11.2 release, should I make bug reports?
there is *no* bug as packman does not yet support 11.2/Factory.
yes, I agree :-)
But vlc is available and allows me to watch/lisen to everything that I have tried ...
That's a personal choice I want kaffeine to run, and for the moment I can't test it. I'm not complaining about it, just telling I can't.
But you didn't indicate this in any way. You *only* said that packman was not available. And I agree. But I offered a quite reasonable substitution.
I still fail to see *anything* that prohibits you from using/running Factory, unless my crystal ball is defective and that *is* a possibility.
And then there's the problem that I mention in :-) : "Re: [opensuse-factory] Milestone 5, some problems, more problems"
When I boot the system I have only a black screen and I can't do anything because I can't even switch to the console...
I'll try the proposition with init 3 as a boot option in Grub now, and I'll report back here.
just for the record, I only buy nvidia as I see many with problems with intel and ati. But I can run the live cds on my wife toshiba with ati, just have to boot to console and run sax or there is nothing.
