The kwalletmanager says its V 2.0 from Help menu but Yast says its 5.10.0-1.1 , not sure if i'm running the correct version?
5.10.0 is KDE Frameworks5's kwallet daemon. A KF5 based kwalletmanager is not released yet, so you are using the KDE4 version. It should work fine with kwalletd5, but I cannot tell. I do have both installed here and use kwalletd4 in KDE4 and kwalletd5 (and a pre-release KF5 based kwalletmanager in Plasma5... ;)
Maybe just the file permissions for the wallet are wrong? Would probably explain why you couldn't save the settings in kwalletmanager.
Before i upgraded to Plasma, i didn't use kwallet (well, i don't think so) Kmail held the passwords for each account without accessing kwallet. If it was accessing kwallet, it never prompted me for the kwallet access to get teh passwords for the email accounts.
If KMail didn't use kwallet, it wouldn't have remembered the passwords. This feature (to store the passwords in plain text in the config file) was removed when KMail was ported to Akonadi in 4.7.
It shouldn't show any errors. But it should show your user session. Does it do that?
Yes it shows the session fine.
Ok. If not, polkit wouldn't allow you to change your wallet. Only users in a local, active session are allowed to modify/save the kwallet settings, and also only when entering their password. Maybe check that you have polkit-kde-agent-5 installed, but it should be as it is required by plasma5-session. tada.... bingo.... polkit-kde-agent-5 was not installed. I can change the kwallet config now. Should polkit-kde-agent-5 have been installed automatically?
Thanks a lot for your help. hopefully this one is closed so i'll try logging out and in again to see what happens
Kind Regards, Wolfgang
