Well thought i would have a look at 12.1 rc1 as it is getting close to release time and no one seems to be bothered with the problems i have with 11.3 .
Booting is very slow the 11.3 system i at leats twice as quick, Sound system sometimes yes sometimes no .
This on an Compaq Presario v5030 laptop AMD turion 64 1.5Gb Ram ATI graphics (shared memory ) tested on a Tosiba 40Gb drive that i use as a test install drive .
The same hardware on 11.3 (all 64 bit systems and software) is as i said twice the speed .
Ideas of where to look for info as i cn not sit and watch the boot process by hitting the Esc key as it keeps going back to the graphics screen
This might be caused by a loop dependency of systemd.
a) The fast check is to switch back to sysvinit and see if it happens there too.
b) On the long run you have to check if this is a duplicate of 661401 Add
systemd.log_level=debug systemd.log_debug=kmsg
as additional kernel cmd line boot args and file a bug report including this information. If the a)" worked while you see this with systemd please directly assign the bug to Frederic.
Lars Ok it will be tomorrow before i get chance to try it is the " test = sysvinit" a kernel cmd line option at boot time please
