If its done by a delete request then this process most likely has the same permissions as a submit request, which leaves a trace in the pkg log and it updates the _link file. So I think the delete request should also add some blurb to the log and it should remove the _link file. Right now such packages just enter state 'broken' and thats it, and as a result its not compiled anymore for old distributions.
