Hi all,
just obtained a via-board, 1Ghz CPU, 512MB mem Thought to give it a spin with 10.3-A4 Config: default +kde
Compared with other boxes, it seems to take ages to install. y2base takes 100% cpu, It is still resolving, and specially the package zyper-0.7.1-12 seems to be a hard nut to crack...
Even the install of 10.2 on smaller systems (intel 450MHz) didn't take that long.
I found out that the amount of enough ram is a miraculous change. I noticed install ram usage is about 750- 1024 ram for 10.3 a4... As with the one / partition system: With enough Ram there is allmost no speed-loss. It is more simple with more OS on *one* drive to not have all kind of loose partitions, especialy with changing drive-names hd0, hda, hdd, sda, sdb. Figuring out the right grub-entrance was never as hard as now. (if somthing goes wrong..) - -- Have a nice day, M9. Now, is the only time that exists.
