It would be nice if it was like this. But it is not the case with systemd. Its upstream not only does nothing to make coexistence easier, it actively tries to make it more difficult and openly plans to make it as difficult as possible. With a project like this, you can only let yourself be assimilated or refuse it. I certainly vote for refuse. Systemd doesn't give me anything which would be really useful and couldn't be achieved without it. On the other hand, it makes configuration less flexible and diagnostics more complicated. Few seconds of boot time (if at all) are not worth it.
