Then I've had a look into the bug list of kdepim here:
https://mail.kde.org/pipermail/kdepim-bugs/2017-January/thread.html
This is plainly alarming. So I had a look at earlier months' bug list, which didn't appear to have been much better. So much traffic about bugs for an basic application of the whole KDE system!
Not sure if this is the right list...but yes, KDE has a lot of open Bugs. Using KDE since 1.x, there were a lot of deep valleys that were passed. And many bugs in KDE are not fixed, they just remain until the version is out of maintenance and then being closed. With some luck, it works in the newer version, but not necessarily. Like the 'display unread mail' bug https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=259813 - reported 2010(!) - and some others... I would really love to see the KDE team fixing bugs before developing new features, to get the Desktop and its Applications rock-solid. Maybe if we all ask for it.... Rolling back KDE to an older release will probably create some other issues. I would expect that other rolling distros would have a similar problem with curent KDE - go to Leap to avoid this risk.
