This is a point, which might be overtought toroughly: The possibility and nessesity, to connect some install choice to the hardware detection:(which offcourse should be done automaticly, by an intelligent installer programm) 1) Is it a laptop or desktop? (might be a difference between the sizes of the system, here the choice for a networkmanager can be made: wireless?, cable?, both?) 2) Does it have a TV-crd or blue-tooth? if it does not, i think the modules do not have to be installed (can be added lateron if nessesary) 3) How much Ram? (if small, suggest smaller base.) 4) CPU frequency? (if low, suggest smaller WM, instead of DE?) 5) Videocard, and not only NVidia will get 3D support, but Ati also.. 6) Monitor or lcd/tft-screen sizes are VERY important for graphical installer and sax. (evt availability of hd-space, (my wish(!): a partitioner that can perform tasks between shutdown and start-up, which thus has the rights to write a batch, and perform it before the os is set-up, and so is also usable when a running system has to be changed, without timerobbing and risky back-up)
Centainly!
