I kind of like the openSUSE 42.1 naming/release number. I also like Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and the tie-in with the history of SUSE and YaST. On Sat, May 23, 2015 at 7:52 PM, Carlos E. R. <carlos.e.r@opensuse.org> wrote:

Well,
thinking that openSUSE may be the "Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything", may be preposterous. :-)
Actually, it's in complete congruence with the seriousness displayed in the book this is sourced from. And yes, it's just as crazy as some discussions here. If you like those, you surely adore the book.
Mmm.
Well, the wikipedia disagrees, says the first version was 3/94.
No, it says 4.2 was the first under that name: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SUSE_Linux_distributions#Origins
And in <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SUSE_Linux_distributions#Versions> it clearly shows 3/94 as the first one, Slackware based, kernel 1.0
