iiuc, this portion of the thread is missing the point. The designation of "42" is a placeholder/temporary-identifying-mark/name-to-use-until-proven or anything it can be called *just* to identify a possible collection of applications until such time as future action can be determined. It doesn't need or have to be "voted" on as it doesn't exist as a distributed version, now or sometime in the future.
If that is so, it is acceptable.
But someone did say here that it was not going to be voted at all, but decided by "the people that do it". That is not acceptable.
In the context it was presented, the "decided by ..." *is* acceptable as it means nothing other than a means to identify a ?project. Agree that when it is presented for distribution, the versioning scheme should be decided by committee/vote/coin-toss/or some agreed means even though that agreement *will* not satisfy the "loudest voices" :^) It is still just a project (or any other name for it, collection of works), not a distro, ie: project vs product. And still not worthy of argument. done/bye -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
