First of all: you don't need to compile native on an ARM machine, the BS can easily cross compile it for you. For example MeeGo code first sees real ARM hardware only during installation, for compilation only x86 is used. Second: there is a new Debian ARM port ( http://wiki.debian.org/ArmHardFloatPort ) which was entirely built on a small cluster of similar ARM machines ( http://www.genesi-usa.com/products/efika ).
