And I disagree. If we don't make it obvious that Sun's "x86_64 is for servers only, no-one needs firefox there" is wrong, there is no chance either Sun changes that or the open source java catches up. You're free to put your money behind either side, but we took side - on the OSS side of life (with a hopefully easy way for our users to go with a NON-OSS alternative if present on that architecture). Easing the update path in adding conflicts is very fine with me though. This should be reported though.
