+1 on your proposal for postgis. Regarding gdal, I agree that we need to stay to 1.x for a while... Regarding gdal version for Leap: since the proposed development model asks for stable packages, we need to submit gdal 1.x IMO.

I'm in favor of migrating postgis there and make it multi pg version like all other module we have.
