I've just copied the Fedora grub2 package and made some changes for it and put it into my obs project home:a_jaeger:branches:openSUSE:Factory as package grub2. It can be installed in parallel to grub - and once you have installed it, you have to create the grub2.cfg file yourself - I did this via: grub2-mkconfig > /etc/grub2.cfg That one did not boot, so I had to manually change the file to use "rw" (remove the ro from /etc/grub.d/10_linux). I'll patch the package now. Also graphical boot via bootsplash did not work for me, no idea what to change for that. I added my usual cmdline options to /etc/default/grub (GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX) Hope this is a starting point for others to evaluate grub2 further. If you have any patches, feel free to send them to me...
