Hi all,
After installing the latest gdm update from 20180116 ( gdm 3.26.2.1-2.1 -> 3.26.2.1-3.1 ), I cannot login to my cinnamon-based desktop. The system displays a black screen for a while, then shows a garbled Gtk dialog with the message "Could not update /home/<my user>/.ICEauthority". I thus had to rollback and lock this update for now. Before that, I tried to have a look at the logs, but wasn't sure what to look for and didn't find anything particularly interesting from a quick skim.
If I understand SuSE's version numbering scheme correctly, this is a distribution-specific update and not an upstream one. Can someone point me towards some kind of changelog or patch diff for this update, so that I can investigate further what could be causing this breakage? That was the change from https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/563686

Can you please file a bug so this can be investigated properly?
Looking around, I found an existing bug where someone already sorted out what is going on: https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1076745 Basically, the GDM update alters /etc/pam.d/gdm in a way that breaks automount of encrypted home directories (the relevant pam modules are not invoked anymore). I'll join the conversation there. Cheers, Hadrien -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
