Yes, and you recommended altering them after copying them to /etc/... Which, as Thorsten pointed out, might cause issues, if you copy them *as a whole*. Copying single statements from these files into snippets or drop-in files in the *.d/ directories avoids those issues. Your statement can be read in both ways, IMHO. So I take Thorstens answer as a clarification...
