Two ways to accomplish this: 1. Add a "Folder" applet 2. Right click on the Desktop, "Desktop settings", Switch "Layout" to "Folder"
Actually, the second is a "maximised" version of the first. It shows everything in the $HOME/Desktop folder by default, but you can adjust that.
Thanks. On KDE4 you could right click the app in the menu and it would have 2 options "Add to Desktop" and "Add to Panel" - do you know if that is going to be coming to Plasma?
