No, it says 4.2 was the first under that name: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SUSE_Linux_distributions#Origins
And in <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SUSE_Linux_distributions#Versions> it clearly shows 3/94 as the first one, Slackware based, kernel 1.0
Sounds like that was basically just a German translation of Slackware, so I guess that's why people don't really count it as really the first S.u.S.E./SUSE releases.
