I have made this feature request. I feel that something like this is critical. Though I am not the most saavy user, I have always been able to resolve a problem eventually. However this one i have been forced to concede defeat. A Wizard allowing easy setup and use of my mobile broadband would be greatly welcome, and I doubt I am the only user in this boat especially since netbooks are becoming more popular.
How is your Mobile Broadband connected to the notebook? Using a 'phone' and Bluetooth? NetworkManager handles those (Granted, I speak here for NetworkManager on gnome; not sure how much of this the KDE applet supports) See for example http://dominique.leuenberger.net/blog/?p=81 It should generally also work with internal WWAN chips, but I do not have access to any and as such have no chance of testing this.
