Why wait - the drawbacks of GRUB2 have already been overcome - it's called lilo ...
You're welcome to use it, but it's not a serious alternative. It is not flexible. It can't handle dynamic file systems.
It sounds like a significant drawback, okay.
It can't handle a real graphical boot setup (AFAIK). We're trying to make openSUSE *more* user friendly, not less.
Yes, I agree - we just haven't decided which kind of user. Which is what Egbert Eich already mentioned.
I understand that you're an expert user, but that just means that you should have access to the expert tools you want to work with - not design the system around them.
Yeah, I pretty much agree with too. However, back when we had SuSE Linux, one of the things that made it popular was that it was very flexible - it was virtually turn-key for the newcomer, and also helped the expert with the tedious stuff. Today, as an expert user, I more and more often feel left out in the rain, having to do more of the tedious stuff myself. Maybe that's the way to go, I'm not so sure. /Per -- Per Jessen, Zürich (0.0°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
