It's a single environment variable, can't you just "unset" it if you want to test what it's like without it? Furthermore, you've gone to all the trouble of finding the patch you deem so offensive, what's stopping you from branching the package, removing the patch and then you've got what you are asking for? I would, however, probably use "KDE:Frameworks5/plasma5-workspace" rather than "KDE:Unstable:Frameworks" if you want it to be more analogous to what is currently in Tumbleweed. performances: Unpatched > Full Wayland > Xwayland > X I would say it is rather more correct that X has the best user experience at the moment. That may change in the future but only if people actually try out Wayland in its various forms and SUBMIT BUGS to appropriate entities when they encounter problems. There are still a lot of problems on both the DE and application side of the Wayland equation to be considering it a better user experience than X.
